The V5 document (Log book) does not record the vehicle’s Year of Manufacture. What is shown on the V5 is the vehicle’s Year of First Registration in the U.K. This means that the vehicle could have been manufactured in year which is much earlier than the year registered. For example, a vehicle manufactured in 2007 could have been registered in the U.K in 2012 and therefore the V5 will only record 2012. It is crucial that before you purchase your vehicle (especially if the vehicle is not made in the UK) that you verify the year of manufacture with an authorised dealer.
